Lizard Yoga Pose - Utthan Pristhasana

Type of yoga pose: standing

Benefits: this yoga pose helps open up the hips, stretch the hamstrings and thighs.

Instructions for doing the pose:

1. From Downward Facing Dog pose you need to step your right foot to the outside of your right hand.

2. Then you should turn the toes of your right feet out slightly.

3. Now you are to come down on your elbows. If you need, you can put a block under your elbows.
 
4. The next step is keeping the neck in the natural extension of the spine, pressing the left heel away and keeping your hips in a square position.

A note for beginners: in case it is too difficult for you to have the left leg raised, you can put your left knee on the mat.
