Locust Yoga Pose - Shalabasana

Type of yoga pose: backbend

Benefits: when doing this pose, you strengthen your spine and chest. It also helps you improve flexibility of your spine.

How to do this yoga pose:

1. First of all you need to lie on your stomach. You can put a blanket under your hips as padding.

2. Afterwards you have to interlace the fingers behind your back.

3. Then you should bend your arms and put your elbows together.

4. Now you should do an inhale, then lift your torso up off the floor when straightening your arms behind you.

5. Afterwards you are to press the tops of your feet into the floor.

6. Finally you can come down and relax on your cheek.

A note for beginners: you can change interlacing your fingers behind your back into bringing your arms alongside the body so that your palms were pressed down into the floor.

A note for advanced: when you lift your torso, you can simultaneously lift your legs off the floor and keeping them in straight position.
